kinda gnarly
Jerm and I surfed between Sloat and 2nd lot sloat this morning.. the wind was already blowing out of the SSW at 6:30am... the sea surface was rough and tumbly... however.. it looks like there is a considerably meatier windswell in the water now. big, head-high, sucky, disorganized waves were basically unloading on a shallow sandbar where we were surfing.. Brilliant, barrelly sections could be seen here and there but were classically difficult to catch.. We each got a few rides.. nothing special for me.. though i think that Jerm nabbed a few nice ones.. I took many many waves on the head, and actually got pinned down to the bottom on this one wave.. that sucked. Not really great out there.. but at least exciting!
matt pointed me this way. the site looks good, ethan. i'm heading down south today to get some warm water sessions in... hope it's decent. i'll be checking back.

Posted by: e at July 19, 2002 11:51 AMSome form still at VFW's around 11am. In general kinda ugly. Lots of fishing boats close to shore. But the standard peak held its shoulder for a few seconds each wave before closing out. Silas of course differed, saying "not much surf today, Robbie."

Linda Mar was fun last night on the outgoing tide but there were SO many people. The typical stare downs in the parking lot..ect. Seems like LM is turning into Santa Cruz in some ways..

Unlike Santa Cruz.. where many viby people back up their stinkeye with some quality surfing ability.. the average surfing level at Linda Mar is incredibly low.. I've learned over the last few years that, even when i drive over the hill and see hunreds of people in the water.. i still know that i'm going to get tons of rides, and that i won't really get any hassle.. Alot of fodder and flotilla in the water there.. also some scattered quality surfers strewn about..
i might go check the surf right now (4:30).. thanks for letting me know that lindy was fun yesterday afternoon!

BTW... Shoulder update: Went swimming last weekend. All is in working order. Swam freestyle for about 20 minutes with no soreness whatsoever, just a little weak still. I'm psyched...
