E's Surf Report

Swell is all blown flat out on the east coast. Those picks of the east coast barrels were from 9/3/02. I haven't seen anything posted yet from the Gustav swell. There was a consistent head high wave with set waves coming through and maxing out in the almost double overhead range. True Jersey surf for September. Plenty of barrels and poundings for not making it out for both myself and KUS (from what he said even though I didn't get to enjoy surfing this swell with him). It must suck to actually have a job and miss the best and cleanest conditions of the swell. HUH KUS? At least we all got some fun long rides and had a smile on our faces.

Hope you guys are enjoying the end of your swell and another is right behind it. I never should have moved from San Diego cause it has been going off.

I'm always defending Jersey surf to the Californians out here.. saying how the steep beaches in Jersey often create punchy/barrelling waves.. i remember getting fucking slammed many times on LBI one time.. coming up with a bloody nose and feeling like crying... but holding it in so as not to embarrass myself..

Oh yea,

I left California after having heart troubles. I blacked out while surfing one day (second time) and had to be rescued and taken to the hospital (the first time put me in a third world hospital in the Caribbean). I have to take meds now cause my heart doesn't regulate itself and keeps beating faster and faster until it robs my head of oxygen and blood and causes me to pass out. Also I teach music theory and performance at some local colleges back on the east coast for the summer programs. What I can't figure out is why I am still here. Maybe its cause surfing with kus in the beachbreak is so fun.

Unfortunately I missed the Lake Michigan stuff. A quickie storm blew through that generated some sloppy 4-6 foot waves but it was only around for late Tuesday night and really early Wednesday morning.
