I saw a few *maybe* sections at VFWs this morning. It�s not lake-flat. There are waves. If my back were pain-free I might have jumped in just to jump in. We�re at the bottom of the valley right now and there�s nowhere to go but up.

Fog enshrouds. Coolness pervades. Somber greys fill the mood of the city. Flashes of sunshine tease but the fog regains control. North Pacific hibernates. South Pacific pump majestic swells that rarely alight our shores. Onshore wind dominates like a power-drunk dictator. Onshore wind crushes like a Mac-truck gone rabid. Onshore wind knows no respite. Onshore wind come on now homie! Girls pine to don halter-tops but the chilly breeze keeps their sun-starved skin under wraps. Bikinis exist somewhere but not here. The summer exists somewhere but not here. Tahoe warmth reminds of seasonal change. Take a jog, don�t need to sweat. Can�t complain about the lack of bugs. Can�t complain about the refreshing chill. Can�t complain about this cosmopolitan city. Can't complain about the comfy, cozy, snuggly evenings. But.. we miss the physical and psychological loosening that the sticky warm muggy hotness provides. The lush, verdant, sky-reaching cornucopia of vegetative growth. The heat! The natural world expanding and blossoming to meet the sweltering environs. Bugs and birds and kids and bbqs and lawnmowers and shirts-off chilling and flip-flops and sunburn and beach-missions and lazy hot laziness..
Summer.. where have you gone?

I had two ideas on how to store energy from waves - that illustrates one of them. The other was to directly catalyze the splitting of water into hydrogen and oxygen, and store the gases in tanks. You directly produce hydrogen fuel with wave energy, and you could off-load the gases at your leisure, either from land or from water. The advantage of the gas is the ease of transportation (insert Hindenburg joke here).

he's been out of prison for two months now. this much i knew, but i hadn't expected him to get back off his feet so quick. they had some footage of him rolling in for his first time after spending 5 years with no wheels in the state pen. he looked a little shaky. then they had some shots of him skating his first promo-whatever-you-call-it event after being out a month or so. the carvy flow isn't totally back, but the guy was busting a lot of old moves out, and landing everything. at 36.

The "P" spot south of HMB was clean but close to the beach. Back into the wind near Lineman with the County. The kites were on it. Dizzyland flat- sorta looked like the tide killed it, but I didn't check the table.
OK, so I'm politically incorrect, but I watched the Slater Invitational and it was pretty fun. Focused on the stoke side with celebs all excited about getting wet. Fark, the hot model did really well. My favorite was team surfing. Two pros swapping inside/outside positions. Cool to see the control on some non-wimpy waves. They also teamed pros with beginner celebs and I think the pros got off seeing the beginners. All-in-all, fairly high on the Karma scale (in my humble opinion).
